A Script on Vikashalaya
Vikashalaya is an inspiring non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering destitute children to become active participants in a Nature-Integrated Human Society. Our vision is to create a world where everyone lives in harmony with nature and its principles. We strive to provide children with the education and support necessary to achieve this goal.
Our mission is to empower children to herald a Nature-Integrated New World Order. To do this, we have developed a unique learning program that is based on the principle of “Giving is Living”. This program encourages children to recognize the importance of nature and its interconnectedness with all life. We also strive to teach children to think, speak, and act based on the principles of collective benefit (ubuntu), joyful co-existence, and appreciation of the natural environment.
Our organisation design is based on the idea of Matrikuls, which are homes of 10 children each led by trained, awakened Owner-Parents. There will be a hundred Matrikuls spread all over India and beyond , each centrally controlled by our Trust.
At Vikashalaya, we believe that education should be based on exposure, not competition. We strive to provide children with the opportunity to explore and discover the natural world around them. We also recognize the importance of academics for validation, but our primary focus is on providing children with a meaningful development that can enrich their lives and help them to become more capable members of a Nature-Integrated Human Society.
We have chosen Santiniketan to be the location of our 1st Matrikul as the iconic Indian poet and Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore had first initiated outdoor child-education under nature.
